Mustang Baseball

 

The Lucerne Valley High School baseball team may lack experience but a dynamic duo is leading the way, according to Head Coach Nolan Almodovar. 

 

“Our team is pretty young,” Coach A says. “Our key players are seniors Mario Sierra and Michael Warnock. They are both our key pitchers on the team.”

 

After dropping the season opener, the Mustangs found their stride against Mojave on March 1st. It was a back-and-forth game.  With the Mustangs trailing by one run in the top of the 5th, junior Ian Hess would clear the bases with a huge hit for our Mustangs who would take a 7-to-4 lead over Mojave which scored a run in the bottom of the inning. But the Mustangs would close out the game in the bottom of the 5th, grabbing their first win of the season 7-5 over Mojave.

 

The Mustangs have a 20-man roster, the largest team in several years, the coach says.
