Mustangs Boys Soccer: Raising The Bar

A new day has come for LVHS Boys Soccer, one in which opponents will start worrying about their chances against the Mighty Mustangs of Lucerne Valley rather than take them for granted, says new head coach Eduardo Espinosa.

But first, there’s lots of work to do.

“I want them to work on their touch, their movements. I want them to work on connecting their passes, so they’re not just playing kickball.”

Three Mustang players are leading the way, according to the coach. They are Angel Montero, Jacob Palmerin and Giovani Godoy.

Coach Espinosa grew up in the High Desert and is a 2019 graduate of Sultana High School in Hesperia. He also serves as an instructional aide at the Middle High School. He has coached club soccer for five years.

Such change won’t happen overnight, but the coach expects to see changes fairly quickly.

“We’re trying to build a soccer culture in Lucerne Valley,” Coach Espinosa says. “They have the potential. They just need to start thinking it.”

The Mustang soccer team kicked off its 2022-23 season on November 14th when the team went against AAE at Brewster Park in Apple Valley.
