Colts Boys Basketball

From Head Coach Jason Hart

The Middle School Boys Basketball team started practice on February 7th and practice everyday after school until 4:30. There was no middle school basketball last year, so this is a new group for me.

All the players are working hard to learn the game and improve their skills.  During practice we have been going over the basics: dribbling, passing, layups, rebounding, defense, and conditioning.  Soon we are going to go over offensive plays, press break, pressing, screens and other fundamental skills.  All the players are working hard to learn the game and improve their skills.  I've seen improvements from the first practice as they continue to sharpen their skills.

I'm excited for our first game on March 8th at California School of the Deaf Riverside (CSDR). The students will see all the hard work they do during the practice's payoff.

Coach John Navarro is helping as my assistant coach as he helped for flag football and baseball this year.  He has been a great help as the students knows him and I've known him for over 20 years.  We both attended LVHS and played numerous basketball games together.  We are trying to build the program up so the students can continue to high school and beyond.  Our plan is for the students to take what they learn and continue to improve and apply it to basketball and life to become outstanding young men.

Here are our players:
Christian Barajas 8th grade, Luis Cortez 7th, Jude Hendricks 6th, Anthony Navarro 7th, Isaac Navarro 8th, Aiden Parma 8th, Daniel Rocha 6th, Noah St. Pierre-Wilkens 8th, Eric Urrutia 6th, Dusty Ward 8th, Randell Woods 8th.
