Lucerne Valley Elementary School Students Joslyn Shuler and Miguel Cervantes were recognized as Students of the Month during the September 10, 2026 Board of Trustees meeting. Principal Joanna Mora presented the awards.
Miguel Cervantes
Mrs. Mora read a nomination letter from Miguel’s 4th-grade teacher: “I am nominating Miguel Cervantes as Student of the Month because he is a shining star in our classroom and at our school. Miguel has a smile that lights up any room. He has been a role model for behavior, always following directions and every expectation given to him. He exemplifies the values of house altruism, always giving his best in everything he does, and by building strong relationships with his peers.”
“I also heard that he was using that great smile and the Student of the Month title to try to leverage a little free time,” Mrs. Mora added with a smile.
Joslyn Shuler
Mrs. Mora shared this letter from Joslyn’s nominator:
“Joslyn is always putting safety first, being on time and on task, acting responsibly and respecting herself and others. She is always prepared, focused, and ready to learn, and she encourages those around her to make positive choices and stay on task as well. Jocelyn has truly embraced the spirit of her RCA house. She uses her creativity, positivity, and leadership to encourage, inspire, and build up her peers. Jocelyn is a wonderful example of how one student can make a positive impact on the entire classroom community.”
