Baseball 2026 Season Highlights

February 25: Yesterday our Baseball would open up their season as they hosted the Jaguars from Palmdale Charter.  Sophomore Jakob Avila-Barajas would go 1 for 2 with a walk and a stolen base, freshman Bryan Baxter Jr. would collect his first hit going 1 for 2 but the Jaguars would eventually take the game over our Mustangs 15 to 1.  

February 27: Our Baseball team would head to Mojave and freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would have a huge day going 4 for 4 at the plate with 3 doubles, 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs and junior Joaquin Landeros would go 3 for 4 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI and our Mustangs would have 14 hits as a team and take the game over Mojave 14 to 2 and improve to 1 and 1 on the season.

March 3: Baseball would host Trona in a non-league match up.  Junior Joaquin Landeros would have a big day for our Mustangs as he would go 5 for 5 at the plate with 4 runs score and 5 RBIs, freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would also hit well as he would go 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 5 RBIs and our Mustangs would collect 16 hits as a team and take the game over the Tornadoes 28 to 2 and improve to 1 and 1 on the year. 

March 10: Our Baseball team would take its 3-game winning streak into a non-league match-up with Packinghouse Christian.  Sophomore Jakob Avila-Barajas would lead our Mustangs as he would go 3 for 4  with 3 runs and 3 RBIs, while freshman Colton Reichow would go 2 for 3 with 1 run and 3 RBIs at the plate and on the mound Colton would strike out 3 batters in an 1 inning and 2/3, and our Mustangs would grab their 4th straight win with a 19 to 5 victory over the Bears.  Our Baseball team is now 4 and 1 on the season and will open up league play on Friday as they head to Silver Valley.

March 13: Baseball would also take on Silver Valley, looking for their 5th straight win.  Sophomore Jakob Avila-Barajas would lead our Mustangs at the plate as he would go 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Junior Joaquin Landeros would go 2 for 4 with a run and 3 RBI's to help our Mustang's offense and on the mound Joaquin would help out by striking out 9 batters in 4 innings of work and our Mustangs would grab their 5th straight win with a 11 to 5 victory over Silver Valley, improving to 5 and 1 overall and 1 and 0 in league play.

March 17: Baseball would also host CIMS in a league match up. Freshman Jovani-Ceja Gonzalez would have a huge game for our Mustangs as he would go 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, including the tying run in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Junior Jonathan Gonzalez would have a great game on the mound with 7 strikeouts over 4 innings of work.  Our Mustangs would be down 2 in the bottom of the 7th with bases loaded, but the Cougars would eventually turn a double play, ending the comeback and snapping our Mustangs 5 game winning streak.  Baseball is now 5 and 2 overall and 1 and 1 in league play.

Monday, March 20: Our Baseball team would head to AAE to take on the Knights.  Sophomore Jakob Avila-Barajas would go 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.  Junior Joaquin Landeros would go 2 for 3 with a run scored, while junior Jonathan Gonzalez would go 2 for 3, but our Mustangs would have a tough 3rd inning where the Knights would grab the lead and never look back, taking the game 14 to 4.  Our Baseball is now 5 and 3 overall and 1 and 2 in league play.  

March 25: Our Baseball team headed to ACE to take on the Eagles.  Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would lead our Mustangs at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double, 1 run, and 1 RBI.  Senior Leon Willoughby would go 1 for 2 with a run scored, but the Eagles would eventually take the game over our Mustangs 12 to 2.  Baseball now sits at 1 and 3 in league play and 5 and 4 overall.

Spring Break: Before we left to break, our Baseball team would host Victor Valley Christian. Sophomore Jakob Avila-Barajas continued his hot bat, going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored.  Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would go 3 for 3 with a double, 4 runs scored, and 3 RBIs, and junior Jude Hendricks would go 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored, and our Mustangs would have 15 hits on the afternoon and take the game over the Royals 14 to 3.  Baseball now is 2 and 3 in league play and 6 and 4 overall.

April 7: Baseball would also host CIMS, looking for a big win. Junior Christian Molano would have a big game for our Mustangs at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a 1 run scored and 2 RBIs. Senior Leon Willoughby would help out, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs.  Junior Jonathan Gonzalez would strike out 13 batters in 6 innings of work, and our Mustangs would grab the win 9 to 5 over CIMS and improve to 3 and 3 in league play and 7 and 4 overall.

April 10: Our Baseball team would take on CIMS.  Junior Jonathan Gonzalez would lead our Mustangs, going 3 for 4 with an RBI on offense, while freshman Colton Reichow would go 2 for 3 with a run and 2 RBIs.  Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would go 2 for 3 as well with a home run, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBIs, but the Cougars would collect 16 hits as a team to take the game over our Mustangs 21 to 11.  Baseball is now 7 and 5 overall and 3 and 4 in league play.

April 14: Baseball would travel to AAE to take on the first-place Knights. Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzales would reach base 3 times, going 1 for 2 with 2 walks. Freshman Bryan Baxter Jr. would go 1 for 3 with an RBI and senior Leon Willoughby would for 1 for 2 with run scored and a stolen base, but the Knights would outhit our Mustangs 12 to 5 and take the game 10 to 1.  Baseball now sits at 7 and 6 overall and 3 and 5 in league play.

April 15: Baseball would travel to AAE to take on the first-place Knights. Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzales would reach base 3 times, going 1 for 2 with 2 walks. Freshman Bryan Baxter Jr. would go 1 for 3 with an RBI and senior Leon Willoughby would for 1 for 2 with run scored and a stolen base, but the Knights would out hit our Mustangs 12 to 5 and take the game 10 to 1.  Baseball now sits at 7 and 6 overall and 3 and 5 in league play.

April 17: Our Baseball team would host AAE. Junior Jonathan Gonzalez would help out the offense for our Mustangs as he would go 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored, and junior Joaquin Landeros would go 1 for 2 as well, but the Knights would explode on offense, grabbing 16 hits and scoring 22 runs, to take the game 22 to 1.  Our Baseball team is now 3- 6 in league play and 7- 7 overall.

April 23: Baseball would also host Silver Valley. Sophomore Jakob Avila-Barajas would go 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would go 2 for 3 with a run scored, and on the mound, he would strike out 9 batters in 4 2/3 innings.  Our Mustangs tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning, would score the go-ahead run and take the game over the Trojans 3 to 2.  Our Baseball team is now 8- 8 overall and 4- 7 in league play.

April 26: High School Baseball would host ACE as well, needing a victory to inch closer to clinching a playoff spot.  Junior Jonathan Gonzalez would come out strong at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and 5 RBIs. On the mound, he would throw a no-hitter in 5 innings of work, striking out 11 batters.  Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would also go 4 for 4 at the plate, with 4 runs scored and an RBI, and our Mustangs would come out strong from start to finish, taking the game over the Eagles 10 to 0.  Baseball now sits at 5 and 7 in league play and 9 and 8 overall, and is just 2 wins away from clinching a playoff spot!

April 28: Baseball would take on Victor Valley Christian in their final home game of the regular season. Freshman Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez would once again lead our Mustangs as he would go 3 for 4 with a double, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs. Senior Leon Willoughby would go 1 for 3 with a run scored, and our Mustangs would continue their winning streak, pushing it to 3 straight with a 10 to 3 victory over the Royals.  Baseball now sits at 10 and 8 overall and 6 and 7 in league play, and is just 1 win away from clinching its first playoff spot since 2018.
