The Mustang Golf Team ended their 2026 season with senior Irvin Angeles finishing in 16th place at the CVL Finals at Apple Valley Golf Course on April 29th. Besides Irvin, other members of the team included Andrew Wakewood, Jr., Brody Curtis, and Brian Hernandez. Here is a brief rundown of the team’s season:
March 11: High School Golf opened its season with a match-up with Palmdale Academy Charter. Junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would lead our Mustangs as he shot a 43 on the afternoon. Senior Irvin Angeles would shoot a 50, while sophomore Brody Curtis would have a 54 to help out the Mustangs, but the Jaguars would eventually take the match by just a few strokes, 258 to 264.
March 19: Golf opened up CVL league play.
March 26: The golf team headed to Hesperia to take part in their CVL match. Senior Irvin Angeles would have an improved score from last time, leading our Mustangs with a 53, while junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would shoot a 59 on the afternoon. The Mustangs would drop a few spots this time as they would take 7th place overall.
Spring Break: Golf would head to Helendale, twice over the Spring break. Tuesday, junior Andrew Wakewood Jr. would lead our Mustangs, shooting a 49, while senior Irvin Angeles would shoot a 50. Thursday would see Andrew Wakewood Jr shoot a 51 to lead our Mustangs, and junior Brian Hernandez would shoot a 56 for our Mustangs to take 5th place.
April 7: Golf would head to Bear Valley Golf Course in Spring Valley Lake for their CVL meet. Sophomore Brody Curtis would lead our Mustangs, shooting a 54 and coming in 18th place overall. Senior Irvin Angeles would shoot a 58, and junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would shoot a 59, and our Mustangs would come in 6th place overall as a team.
April 9: The Golf team headed to Ashwood for their CVL match. Senior Irvin Angeles would have a great day finishing in the top 10 overall, shooting a 46 on the afternoon. Junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would come in 10th place overall, shooting a 47, and junior Brian Hernandez would shoot a 48, and our Mustangs would take 4th overall as a team.
April 14: Golf had their CVL match at Hesperia golf course, and sophomore Brody Curtis would have a great day, shooting a 51 and coming in 14th place overall for our Mustangs. Senior Irvin Angeles would shoot a 58, placing him in 23rd place overall, and junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would shoot a 64. Our Mustangs would come in 7th place in the CVL match.
April 15: Golf had their CVL match at Hesperia golf course, and sophomore Brody Curtis would have a great day, shooting a 51 and coming in 14th place overall for our Mustangs. Senior Irvin Angeles would shoot a 58, placing him in 23rd place overall, and junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would shoot a 64. Our Mustangs would come in 7th place in the CVL match.
April 16: High School Golf headed to Bear Valley Golf Course for their CVL match. Seniors Irvin Angeles and sophomore Brody Curtis would both come in 15th overall, shooting a 55 each. Junior Andrew Wakewood, Jr. would come in 19th overall with a 56, and our Mustangs would move up a spot and take 6th place overall.
April 23: Our Golf team wrapped up their regular season as they head to Helendale for their final CVL match.
April 28: Senior Irvin Angeles from the HS Golf team headed to Apple Valley Golf Course to participate in the CVL Finals. Irvin Angeles competed in Day 1 of the CVL League Finals. Irvin would shoot well, with a 105 over the 18 hole course ranking him in 15th place overall.
April 29: Senior Irvin Angeles would wrap up the CVL League Finals for Golf. After coming in 15th place on Day 1, Irvin would fall back one spot to 16th place, where he would have his final ranking. Great job to Irvin and all our golfers on a great season!
