Meilani Nguyen, Rylee Giles Named LVHS Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Two members of Lucerne Valley High School’s orchestra, violinist Meilani Nguyen and cellist Rylee Giles, were named the Class of 2025 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, during the Tuesday, May 13th Senior Recognition and Awards segment of the annual Senior Awards Night event.

The Top 5 Grade Point Averages: 1) Meilani Nguyen, 2) Rylee Giles, 3) Chloe Evans, 4) Jadyn Paddack, 5) Zoey Davis.

Meilani and Rylee will give speeches at the graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at Ron Peavy Stadium.

The prestigious Crystal Mustang Award was given by Principal Jason Story to Zoey Davis.

“This award covers everything,” Principal Jason Story said. “Are you friendly on campus? Do you help out your classmates? Are you good in class? Are you an athlete? Do you do extra? You’re basically a pillar of the community. This year’s award winner was very easy to pick out. This year’s Crystal Mustang Award winner is Zoey Davis.”

The Principal’s Choice Award was given to Braxton Cervantes. “This student has really matured the last few years whether their behavior or how they work in the classroom.” 

Ashlee Ackerman, who serves as Middle High School guidance counselor with Candice Flores, presented the Counselor’s Choice Award to Elizabeth Davis. “This student has gone through personal troubles,” Ms. Ackerman said. However, Elizabeth has endured the difficult times and soaring to new heights.

Iris Gutierrez representing Assemblyman Tom Lackey’s office also presented a number of awards to graduating seniors.

Zoey

Zoey Davis won the Crystal Mustang Award.
