The Annual Spring Music and Arts Festival on May 9th showcased how far Lucerne Valley Middle High School students have come in their music, drama and arts skills.

Once again the music, under the direction of Amy James-Forrette, took center stage.
Starting off the music portion of the event was the Beginning Band with “Scaling the Mountains of Time” by Robert. W. Smith.
The Beginning Band consists of the following:
Flute: Jamilet Torres Martinez; Trumpet: Alexander Cerna Gonzalez, William Hankins, Clara Sawyer; Tenor Saxophone: Aleyah Ferguson, Trombone: Christopher Zamora Segundo; Clarinet: Alto Saxophone Joseph Campbell, Liam Hite, Abigail Klinger, Levi Strauss; Percussion: Dexter Enright, Briana Escobar; Choir: Judith Orozco, Lona Malone, Karlie Shea, Kaden Tinder
The High School Choir then performed and songs, “Hodie” by Jacob Narverud and “North Wind” by James E. Green. An ensemble of guest percussionists joined the choir. They are Rylee Giles, Sarai Rodriguez, Gavin Strauss Numquam Daturus Te. Mike Stock, Matthew Aitken and Peter Waterman.
The High School String Orchestra performed “The Journey Forward” by Am’re Ford, “Kelvin Grove,” a Scottish folk song arranged by Larry Clark, and a Amy James-Forrette-arranged “Genshin Impact Medley” by Yu-Peng Chen.
The String Orchestra players:
Violin: Meilani Nguyễn, Sarai Rodriguez; Viola: Zyeira Barrientos Miramontes, Kaden Tinder; Cello: Rylee Giles, Irvin Angeles, Leon Willoughby; Double Bass: Tyler Reighard.
The Advanced Band took the stage. They performed Gustav Holst’s “Suite From The Planets” arranged by Johnnie Vinson. Another beloved song came next: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” theme, followed by Jeremy Soule’s “Dragonborn,” also arranged by Johnnie Vinson.

The Full Orchestra brought the music performances to a close with “Field Day” by Chris M. Bernotas.
Announcing each performance were the High School Drama Club Announcers: Yomari Calderon, Roberta Fernandez, Emma Rogers, Jennifer Fernandez, Lona Malone, and Taylor Paddack.
The Drama Club was formed last year and is designed to continue to offer opportunities to foster students’ passions for theater, both on stage and behind the scenes. Students are able to write, direct, block and perform their own skits. They performed their first player earlier this semester.
