The Lucerne Valley Lady Mustangs Varsity Volleyball team honored seniors Itzel Ramirez, Serenity Petrol and Shyann Kerestessy in an emotional Senior Night event in the high school’s Sgt. Brian Walker Memorial Gymnasium on October 12, 2023.
The honorees, who were joined by family and friends, were presented with flowers and gifts by Head Coach Amanda Nichols, Co-Coach Sarah Courtney and teammates.
Afterward, the coaches presented the families of Kayden Davis and Kristy Klaus who lost their lives tragically in a traffic collision on Highway 247 in April of 2022 with their retired jerseys, flowers and gifts. Kayden and Kristy were beloved teammates who would have graduated with the LVHS Class of 2024.
The team later gathered mid-court for a moment of silence and prayer in remembrance of the girls before playing their game against Joshua Springs. Attendees of the event were emotionally affected by the ceremony, many in tears.
