Isaiah Navarro Places Third In Athlete of the Week Contest

Lucerne Valley High School football player Isaiah Navarro placed third in the recent Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week contest sponsored by the Daily Press.
 
Isaiah, a junior, ran for a stellar 235 yards on 27 carries in the Mustangs’ 72-34 romp over the Calvary Baptist Cougars. On the season the running back/linebacker has a total of 10 touchdowns. For the Athlete of the Week contest, Isaiah received almost 11% of the votes with 825 votes cast for him.
 
Winning the AOW contest was Barstow senior Demetri Curiel. Also a running back, Demetri had 214 yards with 18 carries and two touchdown’s in the Aztec’s 34-6 victory over Burroughs. He had 2,853 votes. Serrano running back Carlos Amplayo took with second spot garnering 1,548 votes.
 
The Daily Press Athlete of the Week contest is an ongoing event. All high school varsity players in the High Desert can be considered.
