Saturday was a beautiful day in Avalon on Catalina Island as the Mustang baseball and softball teams took on the Lancers from Avalon High School.
Not only did the Lucerne Valley athletes get to visit one of the most scenic locations in Southern California, but they had an opportunity to continue their improvement on the field.
The Lady Mustangs team played amazing as they beat Avalon 17-7 for their 3rd straight win. Sharon Park led the Mustangs, going 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 R.B.I.'s. Alyssa Grizzle was 1-for-2, scoring 3 times and driving in 2 runs. Andrea Garcia pitched another complete game, striking out 4.
The Mustang boys showed improvement and had some of their better defense of the season, but they dropped the game to the Lancers, 21-0.
Athletic director Brandon Barkley is the Mustang baseball coach. The softball team is coached by Pat Petras.
