Our History

The history of Lucerne Valley Middle High School goes back to 1985 when ground was broken for the first Middle School campus at Aliento Road, which is now the home of the district offices. Two years later, in 1987, the Lucerne Valley Unified School District was formed and Lucerne Valley Middle School opened its doors for grades 6-8. The district began plans to construct a high school.

 

Construction for Lucerne Valley High School began on Rabbit Springs Road in 1990. In 1992 Lucerne Valley opened its doors. Mountain View High School also opened at Ladera Avenue, behind the high school property, as a continuation school. Previously, Lucerne Valley students attended Apple Valley High School.

 

In 1995, the inaugural graduating class of Lucerne Valley High School were graduated.  In 1997, 10 years after the formation of the Lucerne Valley Unified School District, the high school football field was dedicated to the exiting superintendent, Ron Peavy.

 

In 1998, the Middle School campus merged with the High School campus with seven portables moved for grades 7-8. Mountain View High School moved to the Aliento Road campus.

 

In 2012, the 25th anniversary of the Lucerne Unified School District was celebrated and the high school gymnasium was dedicated in the memory of Brian L. Walker, a Lucerne Valley High School graduated who died while serving in the U.S. military in Afghanistan.
