The Lucerne Valley High School girls basketball team started their first of four games at the Loma Linda Academy Tournament with a win, but ran into some tough competition afterward.
For their first game of the tournament at 1:30 p.m. on December 26, the Lady Mustangs handled Glendale Adventist, winning by a score of 29-22. The next day at noon was different, with Aquinas (San Bernardino) winning by a score of 64-8.
Just three hours later, Lucerne Valley would face another strong team, Orange Vista of Perris, who would come out strong in the first quarter with 28 unanswered points and then finish 71-14.
Early the next morning, at 8 a.m., the Lady Mustangs played a much closer game against Pacifica Christian (San Monica), losing 33-23.
The Lucerne Valley girls basketball team is now 2-1 in league and 8-10 overall. Their name game is at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8 at home vs. Victor Valley Christian.
