Lucerne Valley Middle School promoted 45 students from eighth grade onto high school during the annual Eighth Grade Promotion on May 30 in the Sgt. Brian L. Walker Memorial Gymnasium.
Principal Mr. Doug Ferber welcomed graduates and attendees as the eighth graders entered Sgt. Brian L. Walker Memorial Gymnasium to the music of the “Olympic Theme.” Associated Student Body President Lizbeth Avelar led the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the introduction of staff by Mr. Ferber, staff member Kim Evans presented the Student Council/ASB Awards. Student speakers Liliana Velasco, Josclyn Nichols and Landon Lindner shared their thoughts on the promotions, and Mr. Ferber presided over the Honor Roll, High Honor Roll and Top Honor Roll Recognition. Mr. Ferber also gave the Principal’s Award.
AVID teacher Naomi “Ms. O” Oyadomari presented AVID awards to students. She also discussed the benefits of the program and how it will expand in 2018-19.
Cheyene Christman and Mr. Gary Schlenz, who installed the new public address system with Mr. Robert Otwell, played a slide show of students.
Mr. Ferber presented the certificates of promotion.
