AVID 'Sweethearts Ball' a Success

The Lucerne Valley Middle School AVID program’s “Sweethearts Ball” lived up to expectations.

“The AVID Sweethearts Ball was a huge success,” said AVID program advisor Naomi “Ms. O” Oyadomari. “We had about 57 students who attended, and they had a great time!”

While the students were having the time of their lives, a dedicated group of volunteers were making it all happen, according to Ms. O. The teacher thanked the following helpers:

• Gary Schlenz, who helped set up the sound equipment;
• Roland Reyes, who built us the Light Towers that made the gym look so beautiful and illuminated;

• Melody Picco's dad, who loaned us his DJ lighting system;
• Joscyln Nichols mom, Tammy Whiteside Nichols, who provided the great food and an amazing candy bar;

• High School AVID students, who helped serve food: Rhiannon, Willow, Blaze, Bekah, and Sharon;

• And special thanks to our chaperones: Mrs. McDonough, Mr. Roehl, Ms. Monson, and especially Mrs Garcia who was head woman in charge.

“It takes a village to raise our children,” Ms. O said. “Go Lucerne Valley! Go Colts! Go AVID!”
