Awards were handed out to Lucerne Valley High School’s top seniors during the annual Scholarships Senior Recognition and Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 14th at the Sgt. Brian Walker Memorial Gymnasium at Lucerne Valley Middle High School.
Itzel Ramirez Tapia, who had the top grade point average, was named valedictorian of the Class of 2024 while Kevin Angeles is the class salutatorian. The remaining three of the Top Five are Emilia Daniels, Dylnn Cagle and Mariah Navarrete.
Yanet Alcazar, who served as the Lucerne Valley FFA president throughout the year, was given the coveted Crystal Mustang Award. Principal Jason Story presented the Principal’s Choice Award to Thomas Grandjean III. The school’s guidance counselors Kevin Barda and Ashlee Ackerman presented the Counselor’s Award to Elizabeth Rick.
The Lucerne Valley Rangers Color Guard presented the nation’s colors and led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Also assisting were Brooke Diegmiller Guillen and Alicia Crowell from First Foundation Bank, and longtime teacher Cindy Lazenby who currently teaches middle and high school students at the Virtual Academy. The Senior Awards were given following the Senior Scholarship portion of the event.
