On Monday, December 21st, the Assistance League of Victor Valley visited Lucerne Valley Middle High School to conduct the Operation School Bell event.
Normally the Assistance League “adopts” 25 students and get them back-to-school clothes. This year, however, the League offered to cover all of our students. On Monday, students came to the campus to pick up their clothes.
Operation School Bell is Assistance League’s signature program, which provides new school clothes to children in need living in the Victor Valley. The program began in 1987 providing new school clothes to 214 students. Through the years, children have come with their parents to the Assistance League of Victor Valley Operation School Bell office and received two complete sets of school clothes and a winter coat from caring member volunteers. In 2019-2020, the Assistance League helped serve more than 2,000 students.
Today students from grade K – 12 attend shopping events at two local department stores where they choose their own school-appropriate clothing, with the help of their parents and Assistance League member volunteers.
The Assistance League of Victor Valley holds two major fundraisers every year. Currently, it is conducting the Sock It To ’Em direct mail campaign that will end on December 31st. It is planning on holding its annual spring fundraiser in the spring.
The Assistance League of Victor Valley Thrift Shop is located at 22021 Outer Highway 18, South Apple Valley.
